For Those Of You Who Put On 30 Pounds Overnight

We’ve all been there before; that Thanksgiving or Christmas day where we promised ourselves not to eat too much (and it had to be on the day when the best tasting food and those irresistible desserts come out! :-)), we end up eating enough to last us a week in hibernation. When you  wake up eventually, you find that your clothes are so tight around your waist that you gotta fit yourself in your pants with a crowbar (I had to get someone to give me a bear hug; hey it was Christmas!), and even then you have to hope to every god that your pot belly doesn’t relax and breaks your button and flings it to the other side of the room (I’m sure these days that would be considered a lethal weapon), and Lord help you if you try to bend over in those pants.

Now there you are holding your pants or skirt you paid good money for, about to throw in the heap telling yourself ‘I’ll buy the next size up’. Can this all-powerful problem be remedied? What to do, what to do! Well lucky for you I’ve encountered the needle in the haystack of a neat, all in one little report that teaches you step by step how to save and wear those clothes again the next Christmas day. Oddly enough, this report is called Home Sewing Secrets, which also shows you how to produce that chic high-end outfit without breaking the bank, and also how to sew that button back on. It probably won’t turn you into the next Giorgio Armani or Karl Lagerfeld, but you will certainly learn what a perfect fit REALLY means. So head off to Home Sewing Secrets and see what you think.

Dos And Don’ts Of Clothing & Dress Alterations

New ideas for clothing and dress alterations is often necessary to get a good fit for your garment. A range of garment alteration and repair services are available online.

However clothing alterations are just not limited to give your dress a perfect fit. There are a number of ways you can give a new lease of life to your old garments by using some dress alteration and repair ideas. Here are some:

* Whatever else you do; never cut a dress!

* Try not to unstitch a finished garment. It will be very difficult to re-stitch them.

* Thread type should be according to the fabric type.

* Different fabrics react differently to the alterations, so before actual alteration, understand the type of fabric: muslin or knitted, or woven……whatever.

* Follow the manufacturers’ direction regarding construction of the garment to minimize the human error.

* Confirm the accuracy of measurements by matching a well fitting dress to the one in need of adjustments.

* Get your dress restyled. Restyling your dresses is possible by some simple dress alterations like combining the two separate outfits like skirt and blouse into one by additions of some fancy chains, motifs and rings.

* You can also get your dress divided into two if you don’t like it in one piece. You can even go for alterations like removing sleeves and straps on your gown or blouse to restyle them.

* If you are still fond of your old dress but its color has faded, you can get it dyed in a new color.

* If you have damaged your garments with holes or tears in them, it is possible to mend these by getting some quality alterations done to them. Reweaving is a specialized skill for making repairs on your favorite garments. Alteration in such cases involves hand weaving thread strands into your garment’s damaged area, creating virtually
invisible repairs. But to do that, you need some expert hands. Check how to choose a tried and tested tailor and alterations shop

* If you have larger tears in your clothing; repair in such cases is possible by placing a patch cut from the hidden area over it. The frayed edges are then hand woven into the dress material. The edges of the repair are so intricately woven that they are invisible to the eye.

* If you have damaged your sweater or pullover that can also be repaired. An expert re-weaver can repair your sweaters, double knits and wool knits by pulling hidden strands from these and knitting them into the damaged area. Some re-weavers takes special care to match this knitting with your garment’s knit pattern and style.
